Rose G. Grillo |
Born November 21, 1927, in Lewis Run, she was a daughter of the late Louis P. and Angeline J. (Caruso) Granata. She was a 1946 graduate of Bradford High School.
On June 11, 1949 in St. Bernard Church, she married Anthony J. Grillo, who died on April 11, 2010.
Rose was employed at Bell of Pennsylvania for forty years, retiring in 1986. She started as an operator and received numerous promotions, concluding her career as a supervisor.
She was a lifetime member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church and the Catholic Girls Club. She was also a supporter of many local and regional causes. She was a member and Past President of the Pioneer's Club of America. She volunteered at St. Bernard Elementary School and Bradford Central Christian High School.
Her greatest passion was her family where she and her late husband, Tony, attended virtually all of her grandson's events, such as soccer, baseball, basketball, football games, music recitals, class plays and other school events such as food sales.
Rose loved to travel and took numerous trips with family and friends to Europe and to Italy to visit relatives.
She was a great lover of dogs and over a long period of time had three beagles.
Surviving is one son, Stephen (Gail) Grillo, of Bradford, two grandsons, Matthew Grillo and John Grillo both of Denver, CO, two nieces, Susan Hamric of Bradford and Kathy Hamric of Lewis Run, a brother in law, John (Frances) Grillo of Crystal City, MO, a sister in law, Theresa (the late Carl) Smith and Sarah (the late Marion) DeLucia all of Emporium.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ann Marie (William) Hamric and a brother-sister in law Joseph (Connie) Grillo.
Family will be receiving friends Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., where a prayer service will be held at 9:15am on Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church with Rev. Stephen Collins, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
