Galeton Weather For March
Punxsutawney Phil gave us an incorrect prediction this year, spring did not come early, in fact by the end of March it still isn't here. March was much colder than normal. It reminds me of a saying I have have heard for many years, "March is like a Model T Ford, just enough spring to make your ---- ache". How true it is.

The month started out cold and windy and basically stayed that way. However, on the 10th it did hit 61 degrees and then on the first day of spring the morning low was 13 degrees.

We received 1.41" of precipitation, mostly all melted snow. We measured 10.44" of snow. Last year we recorded 2.61" of rainfall and just a trace of snow. Last year spring did come early. In 2012 our forsythia bushes were in full bloom on 23rd and daffodils were out as well. This year the plants, for the most part, look as they did in February.

The most precipitation was received on the 19th (.30") and the heaviest snowfall on the 25th (3.5").

We had 1" or more snow on the ground for 16 days and at least a trace of snow on 9 days. We had snow on the ground for 25 days, in fact we had some sort of snow cover from late December through January and February in to March.

April showers brings May flowers. You probably have heard that before. Those showers will be beneficial since we are somewhat short on rainfall.
