New Edition Of Local Veterans Newsletter Available
Latest edition of Potter County Veterans News, a quarterly publication of the Potter County Department of Veterans Affairs, is now available. Purpose of the newsletter is to keep area military veterans and their families apprised of the latest developments affecting them. Information is concisely arranged in a publication that has a special focus on Potter County veterans’ issues and available services. Copies of the latest edition (April-June 2013) and past editions can be downloaded and printed from the county’s website, pottercountypa.net. Click on the “Departments” tab at the top and go to Veterans Affairs. Copies can also be obtained at the Gunzburger Building in Coudersport at 814-274-8290, Ext. 210 (Will Worthington/Veteran Affairs) or Ext. 207 (Commissioners).Among features in the April-June edition:
- Potter County Korean War veterans will be recognized at a special ceremony on July 20.
- County teaming with Bath VA Center for outreach to economically challenged veterans on April 17.
- Campaign will expose shameless shysters who steal from veterans.
- LEEK “Wounded Warriors,” Trout Unlimited “Healing Waters” planning local events.
- Coming through in a big way for Pittsburgh’s Fisher House.
- Joining Forces one of several national initiatives to support returning service members and their families.

- In Memoriam: remembering Army Specialist Michael Franklin (right).
- Potter County is supporting the Education Center at the Wall and compiling information on local military personnel who were casualties of the Vietnam War.
