Herman B. Bell, 90, of 176 W. Washington St., formerly of 423 Bolivar Drive, passed away, Sunday, March 31, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, at his residence.

Born April 13, 1922, in Keller VA, he was a son of Harvey and Hester (Taylor) Bell.

On December 6, 1945 in Washington DC, he married Elaine (Woodcock) Bell who died on October 8, 1993.

On April 9, 1940 he enlisted in the United States Army, served in France, Belgium and Germany. He was wounded in Normandy and awarded the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged October 26, 1945.

He had worked in the oil fields for the Woodcock Family, then as a machinist at Bovaird and Seafang, Sunny Brook & Bradco Dairy's, WR Case & Son's Cutlery and retired from Topline Company.

Mr. Bell was a former member of the Bolivar Drive Baptist Church and currently attended the Bradford Foursquare Gospel Church. He was a member of the Bradford Area Senior Center and a life member and past Commander of the Disable American Veterans.

Surviving is a daughter, Lynda (Mike) Greeley, of Bradford, a sister, Amy Adkins, of Salsbury, MD, six grandchildren, Jim (Julie) Bell, Jr., Wayne "Chip" Martin, Mike (Barb) Bell, Jon Stauffer, Chad Bell, and Shannon Stauffer, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter Kathleen Bell-Stauffer, one son James L. Bell Sr., and one grandson Christopher Martin.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave., where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 4, 2013, with Rev. William Watson, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church officiating. Military Honors will be accorded immediately following the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park
