PennDOT seeks input on I-180 bridge maintenance project
All District 3
PennDOT is planning a bridge maintenance project on the two Interstate 180 bridges over Loyalsock Creek connecting Montoursville Borough and Loyalsock Township this summer. This project will have single-lane restrictions in both directions of I-180 and will detour two nearby on-ramps.
The on-ramps to be closed include the Broad Street ramp to westbound I-180 in Montoursville and the East Third Street on-ramp to eastbound I-180 in Loyalsock Township.
The ramp closures are necessary to provide safe-driving conditions for the traveling public as well as a safe working environment for the construction workers.
PennDOT plans two construction phases. The first phase will occur from July 8 through Aug. 15.
Lane restrictions on I-180 and the ramp detours will be lifted between Aug. 15 and Sept. 3 in anticipation of heavier traffic volumes during the Little League World Series as well as Labor Day weekend.
The second phase will occur after Sept. 3 for three additional weeks and require the same restrictions.
Message boards will be placed on I-180 and near the detoured on-ramps. These boards will provide advance notice of the project and detours.
PennDOT is asking the public to share any concerns about the proposed project, in writing, to District Bridge Engineer Lloyd Ayres, P.O. Box 218, 715 Jordan Avenue, Montoursville, PA, 17754 or by email at layres@pa.gov. Please provide comments by April 19.
